Home Saint Ukulele specializes in upcycled ukuleles made from cigar boxes, which are usually crushed as trash. Started as a personal project by news photographer Marcus Santos during the Covid Pandemic, these unique pieces are now owned by clients
around the world.
Handmade in New York City using wood cigar boxes, selected for their acoustic qualities, from local cigar shops. The boxes become instruments over a 4-5 day process of sealing and reinforcing the box, sound hole design, attaching the neck and electric pick-ups (for some), applying and drying the finishing treatments and tuning. Each one is visually and acoustically unique, crafted to enhance its voice that comes from the shape and tone of the box. Home Saint Ukuleles are an accessible and portable instrument, perfect as a learning instrument for beginners or a one of a kind collector's item for a seasoned musician or cigar aficionado.
Toss in your backpack for your next road trip, hang on the wall of your man-cave or she-shed, or give as an unforgettable gift.
